I acquired this book recently, and quelle surprise it's all been said before.
But there's more detail. John's departure, falling out with Alan, Live Aid, Rock 'til You Drop, and Rick's heart attack(s), retirement and death.
It's the bits about Rick that I can't make up my mind on. Francis consistently refers Rick's spending and drinking, and his habit of living from one tour payout to the next. I can't decide whether he was lamenting Rick, critising Rick, or venting his frustration with Rick. But I can understand why they'd fallen out and why he didn't want to do any more FF tours - Francis had cleaned himself up, and Rick hadn't. Francis didn't want to go "drinking with the lads" anymore, because he's now TT - he didn't want to relive those days. Alan was still the macho Alan, throwing his weight around and living in denial that his health was far from perfect, and how Alan and John had not developed as musicians since the eighties as much as Francis and Rick.

I would say he probably felt/feels a bit of everything with Rick. And different emotions on different days and in different situations.

Plus they were different personalities. Actually, Francis seems to have a polar opposite personality to everyone else in the band. I wasn't there so I can't even begin to understand the frustrations but I wonder if I'd have preferred Rick's company to Francis's a lot of the time? A book from Rick might have been more interesting but I suspect the research might have been hampered somewhat by the occasional lapses of memory. From about 1974 to, oh, 2015

I enjoyed the book and I certainly felt I better understood the mind of FR for reading it
