Where and when are you going to see him ? Who's first ? With us poor souls on the continent standing no chance of getting similar shows and sharing the experiment - and the chance of one getting filmed doubtful at least - I expect you to write detailed reports.

Me, miss It's on 23 March at Dunfermline Carnegie Hall. A nice, old fashioned venue where many a famous Scottish act have tread the boards. Billy Connolly actually recorded a live album there back in 1976 called Atlantic Bridge (based loosely on Rod's Atlantic Crossing, including the sleeve). The first side was from Dunfermline and the other side was from Carnegie Hall in New York where he was supporting Elton John. Just a bit of inconsequential history there

It's one of those that I really wasn't sure about. It's always (mostly) been about the music for me so this sort of thing is a bit of a tangent; a deflection. But as he's almost literally on my doorstep - and sis is very keen (she doesn't get out much ) - we're popping along. I don't think we'd have travelled any distance for it. This is someone in the media company's idea of how to promote a book and album these days without actually going to the expense of putting on gigs. Francis will probably not be looking forward to it; we have a rough idea of his personality to believe that. But, as always, he will have nodded in agreement anyway assuming that others know best and it's what they're paid for.

craydarr and kursaal75 - That's not what I've asked . No reports from the two of you then .. (You could still secretly go and I promise I won't tell, so you won't lose your street cred ) mortified - Go stand in the corner for calling me Miss ! Thou shall be forgiven though, if you write a nice long report.

Thou shall be forgiven though, if you write a nice long report. Thou shalt be forgiven. If you're going to get all biblical on me I will do a report but I'm not sure how long it will be. The set list might be rather short Incidentally, on a theme we've discussed before, I was in Dunfermline town centre on Monday at the bank and I passed through a shopping centre. The two venues in the town - Carnegie Hall and The Alhambra theatre - always advertise what's coming and there were literally dozens of leaflets on a stand and a large billboard with posters all over it. KT Tunstall, Paul Carrick, several other half decent acts (along with many more turgid ones) but not one reference to Francis Rossi. And it's next month! That, to me, is Quo promotion summed up in a nutshell sometimes. Unless you're a Quo fan who visits the website or receives e-mails and a fan mag, how on earth are you supposed to know he's appearing? If he sells about 14 tickets I think we can point the blame at one or two

I'm going to Preston, 7 April I think it is. Bought my parents two tickets for Christmas but got myself and the (long Quo suffering) missus a ticket as well. Might have to avoid the MB for a few weeks if I'm going to see some spoilers Looking forward to it. Not really sure what to expect but that's part of the appeal. I've no doubt there'll be lots of groan moments, 'insecure little showoffs' and the like. Hoping there'll be some new stuff as well. Quite looking forward to him picking up a guitar here and there as well. It's all well and good seeing these musicians performing with bands but seeing them single handed, just having a bit of a noodle, can remind you just how good they are.

Seems you're the first from on here tomorrow, mortified. Have you thought up a few interesting questions ? Should be a good point in time for them with first nerves settled but routine hasn't quite set in. What about you ask Francis about what has become of the solo solo album. Has it been shelved in favour of the R/R stuff ? And I'd be interested in the choice of songs for his solo set. It was so much better than any Quo set I can think of. Why did tunes like You'll Come Round or My Little Heartbreaker never make a Quo set list (and there's more..) ? And what about introducing them (or generally more newer songs) now that it's a different line-up ?

I think you put a question in a box or something and they pull one out after they've sifted through them at some stage. In other words, off the cuff for Francis but nothing too controversial gets through. I had thought of something flippant like 'do you have the tour bus to yourself?' or 'how do you think Brexit will affect touring abroad?' Then again, I might just sit there like a dummy I'll certainly report in on Sunday or Monday.

Then again, I might just sit there like a dummy I'll certainly report in on Sunday or Monday. Didn't he say he was hoping for interesting questions ? The box thing sounds like a problem to achieve that. A few 100 people throwing in their questions and chances are what could be interesting gets overlooked. They'd have to at least check out the questions before the show and remove the 90% that are boring repetitions. Is that why Mick Wall is there too - for making sure it's diplomatic and pc ? I've been wondering about the tour bus as well and whether it's Rhino or Andy got Rick's part now. Or are they sharing ? Don't think Brexit will affect touring, but they may not let him in again afterwards. He's from a family of immigrants after all :oo: .

I'm not convinced that many people will throw in questions. I wouldn't have thought a couple of hundred. I'm not even sure a couple of hundred people will be there. It has had ZERO promotion here. Tomorrow's event I mean. I don't know about elsewhere.
Cammy the Morton Fan will almost certainly be at the Greenock 'gig' on Sunday. It's his home town.
It's all about selling books though. It really has no other purpose. I still think an hour in a book shop would sell as many but what do I know?

Tickets aren't free, and I'd imagine the overheads aren't that expensive considering there is no band or equipment to lug around and he can do many more consecutive shows than with the band as there is obviously less strain on the voice. As for promotion, there might not have been much specific local promotion, but he has still be on national TV & Radio talking about the book, surely some awareness of the tour was made there.

I tend to agree with most of that. I don't listen to the radio as a rule; certainly not local radio and daytime TV, where it seems Francis has done most of his interviews, is also off my radar. So maybe more people know about it than I think. It's just odd to see an entire allocated space in the local shopping centre taken up by dozens of posters, leaflets and even a ticket desk for the two nearby venues not having a single mention of the event. I passed the other day and noticed that Garbage's only Scottish date was at the local theatre. That immediately caught my attention so I may well go to that. I don't visit the Garbage website, I'm not in the fan club and I'm not on their mailing list. But I now know they're coming. Which sort of emphasises the point I'm trying to make.
