Going to be an expensive summer. I'm also seeing Roger Waters in Hyde Park, and again at the Manchester Arena - I think those tickets were £250 as well.
If you're a living legend in your 70s, it seems you can get away with charging anything you like and people will still pay it.

Make the most of it I say.

I’ve relented and paid £113.70 with fees for one at Coventry in a pre-sale.

Saw the Stones last week at the Olympic Stadium. Standing on the pitch was £100. And worth every penny; Mick at 74 is incredibly fit, I thought Keith wasn't at his best, Ronnie still improving, Charlie rock solid.
Liam Gallagher - don't give up your day job, son.

I like Liam's recent solo album, I must admit. And Noel's. But the support for the Stones in Edinburgh is Richard Ashcroft who I'm not keen on. I was going to go but a mixture of cost and having seen them a few times before will keep me at home. That and a broken toe Ronnie's still improving? Never too late, eh?

Ronnie seems to be playing more lead parts than Keef, which made me think he's getting better. I've been following him since his days in The Faces.

I always thought Ronnie was no Mick Taylor (I doubt anyone did) but a better lead than Keef. Like Quo I guess, the Stones are the sum of all parts. Like most great bands probably.

2 hours away from gig time and I’m like a 10 year old on Xmas Eve.
Had a wonderful afternoon catching up with old friends over a few beers. Just waiting for the ladies to freshen up and then we’ll make the short tram journey to Old Trafford from our hotel.
Can’t wait!

Especially at my age (I appreciate you're considerably younger) You do realise, of course, there would have been no 'freshening up' had it just been 'the lads'?

Just waiting for the ladies to freshen up and then we’ll make the short tram journey to Old Trafford from our hotel. Can’t wait! WELL.........WHERES THE REPORT? Fab, awesome, brilliant, loved it...........................not enough? Perfect day in lots of ways. The other couple we went with we'd not seen since our wedding just over two years ago. I was in a band with him back when I lived in Yorkshire so it was great to catch up, see what's happening with the band. We were staying in a hotel in Sale which is a nice little place so the afternoon was spent by the canal, supping a few craft beers in the sun. Short tram ride up to Old Trafford itself, took some time to get through security and into the stadium but I guess that's the reality of modern life and if it keeps everyone safe then it's a price well worth paying. Queue for the bar was horrendous once in the stadium, despite the £5 asking price (for a can of John Smiths)! Wembley was much better in that respect when I went to see ELO last year. We missed the support, was Richard Ashcroft from the Verve. Kinda heard Bittersweet Symphony whilst queuing at the bar but the only other song I'd have known was 'The Drugs Don't Work' so I wasn't that fussed. Was quite pleased with our seats, although at £125 a ticket they should've been decent. Got the 4 on the end of the row, makes bar/loo trips easier during the gig. Stones burst on to the stage at 8:20pm, no big fanfare, just launched straight into JJ Flash. I'd been keeping an eye on the setlists from recent gigs and knew they mixed it up at each one so I couldn't predict what was coming next, (unlike some bands I could mention). Really enjoyed the Dylan cover, 'Like a Rolling Stone' and also the inclusion of 'Let's Spend the Night Together'. Would have liked a few more of the early stuff TBH, perhaps even a Chuck Berry cover but we did get 'Paint it Black' which seemed to get the crowd going. They did 'Just Your Fool' from the new (ish) blues album. Love hearing the Stones playing old blues stuff. As the concert continued we got into the 'hits' and the crowd just got better and better. 'Honky Tonk Woman', the utterly brilliant 'Sympathy for the Devil', 'Start Me Up' and 'Brown Sugar' before they went off stage for a minute or two. Came back on for an encore of 'Gimme Shelter' and then 'Satisfaction'. Do people still write songs like 'Gimme Shelter', if they are then it's passing me by. I still don't really know what it's about but the whole song is just on another level IMO. They sounded as good, if not better, than when I first saw them at Twickenham back in 2003. To think Charlie Watts is 77 is just unreal, the guy must be one of the coolest people alive. Tiny, old school drumkit, sits there totally unfussed by everything going on around him, just doing his thing. We got back to Sale just in time for one last pint before bed. I suspect it'll be the last time I get to see the band, surely it's only a matter of time before they have to call it quits, either through choice or not? Greatest band of all time - for my money they are and the fact I've been able to see them live during my lifetime (3 times) is something I'll be forever thankful for

Great report, @bam . Sounds like a cracking good day. There was a time, not that long ago, when the Stones' popularity was being questioned by the media. It was either before the 2003 or the 2006 tour. Can't remember which but they were being included in articles about falling ticket sales for acts like Robbie Williams and one or two others. I saw the Stones on both those tours and they were packed out - and brilliant! The media always have to have an 'angle' to sell their wares I love the way the Stones mess about with the set a bit every night. The core is basically the same but they always throw in the odd gem and maybe take out another. Jumpin' Jack Flash seems to be the preferred opener though. It was last time. They play Edinburgh Murrayfield this weekend and I'm not going but it will be a blast as always, I'm sure. My own personal live favourite is Midnight Rambler. It's sort of akin to Forty Five Hundred Times for me with its changing tempo and fabulous rhythm throughout. I presume they did that? They always do! Anyway, glad you made the most of it. This could be the last time....
