Another great thread, @inna . Nice one.
I'll plump first for a band that I adored - second only to Quo then and probably even now. A flawed genius, as they say. So many fantastic songs and performances to choose from but I've plumped for this one. An old Jerry Reed song. A wonderful band that I truly miss.

One of the very few not sung by Georg Kajanus:
.. and my all time favourite Purple song:

Something a bit more familiar. A man whose voice was like velvet. Remained a big fan since this one.

Roberto Palmero part deux. I loved this. I was 20 and in love. Not with myself I hasten to add

A few days since anyone put one up. Time we had these chappies when they were at their finest. I remember watching this on BBC as a 20-year old. And watching my mum and dad open mouthed

I'm actually surprised there are far more posts in the 80s thread, so a few more songs I loved then and still do: From one of the best albums of all time ..and late at a party ..

Which I have kicking about somewhere actually. I've seen them support Quo twice I think as well as seeing them in their own right back in the 70's a couple of times.

Talking of ladies, the best in my view back then was this woman of some talent.... Some voice!

Obvious perhaps but I suspect it’ll still be loved 100 years from now. Utterly brilliant imo.

I liked the A-side of the single as well - I Do I Do I Do. For some reason it made me draw the Egyptian pyramids. There's a connection, I tell ya !

snakelady I have a real problem with ABBA as I was brainwashed as a youngster by my mother and sister who loved them, they played them all the time and this has put me off. I can appreciate what a fantastic talent they "all" were, but I can't enthuse about them. The song below is a cracker tho.

Blokes always preferred the blonde one or the brunette one. Just the way we always put a superficial slant on things. I don't actually think I've changed! There's something about music that makes it more appealing when its a song you don't like but visually you're distracted anyway. I couldn't stick Kate Bush's voice but I could watch the video for Babooshka all day. And don't get me started on Kylie.... I appreciate this is sort of away off on a tangent but I guess it's the same for women/girls. Or maybe it isn't.

Indeed: Girls have always been either into the blond one or the one with the long silky hair. We're talking Quo of course ! craydarr and @inna - common story obviously. In my case it was my mum, who loved them, but for a short while my younger brother was fond of them too. I liked some songs - not many though and never have been a fan.

I've just stuck this up in the 'what you listening to this week' thread. So it should be up here as well. All very dated but all very brilliant.

To cover the pop-angle - best Smokie song: One of the best Sweet songs .. and probably the best from BCR Maybe Amanda Lear's Queen Of China Town should be added for the boys too
