I did find this quite embarrassing, I was shocked when it did so well.

Maybe that's my problem - I do know most original versions and their very different sound of old. Generally speaking - concerning the covers albums too - I do think that Quo are a great covers band, simply because they're a great band, but they have a tendency to choose the wrong songs IMO. They were never going to improve Don't Stop i.e. Rumours is one of the most successful albums in pop history and they should've kept well away from it instead of covering one of the songs and even naming their album after it.
Of course there are exceptions to the rule - meaning songs that were great choices - Wild Side Of Life, RAOTW, I knew The Bride or Not Fade Away to name a few .. I don't think naming the album Don't Stop (certainly in the UK) did it's performance any harm!! And with having nothing to promote, naming the next winter tour "Can't Stop". Quite clever really

I like the Anniversary Waltz releases... good selection of tracks and well put together.
I find it a bit ridiculous though that they go into the studio to record one offs like this and they have an amazing sound, but when it comes to albums they always sound weak...
Whilst they was in the studios recording both Watlzs, they recorded Paper Plane which is around here and there but the release was pulled. Stupidly put crowd noise over it to make it sound live but overall, it's an excellent version of Paper Plane.
It must have been around the same time they recorded the Greatest Hits Medley for the Brit Awards performance

It does sound quite odd because the crowd is so obviously false. It did make it to the shops very briefly I think on the first Anniversary Waltz single before being pulled. I only have a download version.

Hate any medley full stop. Never liked them in the set when they could easily be replaced by full versions of one the songs. Never going to change though as they have been a mainstay in the set for 35 years now

I think there was also meant to be either a studio version or live version of Down Down on one of the releases, but that never made it out

I didn't mind it although I thought part 2 was better then part 1.
I had the 12" single at the time.

I played the full 10 minute version, when I was dj-ing in a local pub in Southend and it was the last song I played, before we entered the new year/century. I had pre recorded the Anniversary waltz, together with the Big Ben chimes, Auld Lang Syne, the hokey cokey a various other songs to see in the millennium, as I wanted to enjoy myself as well, but unfortunately, someone bumpt in to my CD player and the track jump a couple of minutes!! ensuring that the year 2000, started in Southend 2 minutes early!!
