Well, I may not get Cats In Space, but I'm very much looking forward to Ken Hensley Guess his long curls will have disappeared though - and I wonder whether he'll play any of his Heep songs ? I mean the guy was Heep ..

I saw Cats in Space supporting Deep Purple last night and already I am looking forward to seeing them support Quo. Make sure you catch them My sister said that Europe supported Deep Purple in Glasgow. Were there three bands on? She never mentioned. The wee scamp. Yeah, Cats In Space got half an hour at seven o clock, before Europe at around 7.45 It was a bit like Quo’s set up last year with Velvet Kittens then REO Speedwagon

Quo haven't got a 'well known' support this year in the UK. I wonder if this is because it was meant to be Aquostic? The last few years (or more) they've had bigger name support acts to help sell out the venue. I'm not making excuses for them, but that could be part of the reason (as well as the other things we discussed) why tickets haven't sold as well this year as the last few. It is sad that Quo can't sell these size venues out on their own....but that is where they're at.

I used to think Ken looked cute .. at least till I found out Francis was even cuter. (teenage girls and hormones .. ) Nope, Mick just never played in the same league as Ken. Ken was the main songwriter, not just the keyboard player and that means something to me, while Mick was 'merely' the guitarist (I know he's taken up songwriting since). Kind of like John Coghlan - part of the sound and important in that respect, but he'd have been replaceable. Funnily enough he was the one who lasted. With Trevor Bolder having died a few years ago and Mick being the last member from the 70s left, maybe he should rename the band Mick Box's Heep now ? .

Guitarists have always been my thing and they make any band for me. If I don't like the guitarist, chances are I won't like the band. Must be a bloke thing. Put it this way, the songwriter is WAY down the list. People like Bob Dylan would have just played in pubs all their lives if they were relying on me

I wasn't a "true" Heep fan, I only liked a lot of their music. I saw them live with David Byron a lifetime ago. I agree, Mick Box was just... Mick Box then. He's different nowadays. Ken Hensley was my "favourite", too, though I'd never have called him "cute". He was cool, looking so serious, a bit like a Native American chief, and I found him very awe-inspiring. I'm looking forward to seeing him again in December. Lucky you ! Wish I had seen them with David. He was by far the best singer they've ever had and the band were never able to compensate his loss - or throwing him out to be more precise, but sadly he was an alcoholic and that's how you dealt with them back then (see Sweet and Brian too, very similar story..). Cool and serious looking blokes can be cute too - what about Alice .. ? I just noticed - obviously Trevor was Heep's Andy Bown going by the time he became a band member. Is there a Heep forum that still considers him a hired hand after all these years ?
