Great topic, Inna Like most of these - And the vids made me actually wonder how far back you've got to go to call it nostalgia ? When does recently end and where does nostalgia start ? Guess everybody has to answer that for themselves and it'll depend on age too. I've noticed I still tend to see the 90s as recently and everything after 2000 is melted into one big present tense when I think about it in general terms, music e.g. But then, when I think about what really has happened in my life since 90 I realise how long ago it really was. About half a lifetime actually and that is scary. I was still young then, the boys weren't born .. Guess I should really feel nostalgic about that time too.

Forgotten how much I like Good Sign. It's a cracker of a song. And Fakin The Blues for that matter. That's from that Irish chat show I think. Gay Byrne or someone. Don't think I've seen that before. Francis needed to go on a regime! As for the whole nostalgia discussion, it is an individual thing. I get misty eyed for yesterday. The sun was shining. Here, have another vid. One that really does prick my nostalgia buttons. Coolest band on the planet. And as my sister correctly pointed out, this is why do what we do.

It is an odd thing to pin down, nostalgia. People used to get nostalgic for the war. Just a time in people's lives I guess. Non Quo fans probably think we all live in the past. Little do they know how much we debate the present. And the future.

I think nostalgia is when you yearn for certain things that you once used to love and admire, but which you had to let go at one point in the past, and now you can't have them back. Oi, Inna, in that case nostalgia starts last year I guess. I keep thinking of the Herborn gig, how well the band played, the energy that came from them - and how 'normal' Rick looked. Little were we to now what was to happen soon after. Now he's gone and we won't ever see him again up there on a stage .. Generally speaking up till now I've never felt nostalgic about any previous incarnation of Quo though. I love the old records, but as long as they kept making good new ones and kept playing great gigs - and they have since my return to see them live in 2002 - I just accepted it as natural evolution and was glad I still had my band. Once the band will be gone completely I probably will feel very nostalgic about them, live in the past and be spending my time telling my future grandchildren 'those bands you're listening to, they're ok-ish/really good, but Quo were so much better ..

It's interesting that Queen and maybe Godley & Creme to a lesser extent are credited with the "creation" of the video art form and although many of these posted here are simply taken from TV performances, I think we can all remember little films made in support of singles. Promotional films I think they used to call them.
I remember a particularly psychedelic one for San Francisco as a youngster and, of course, Get Back by The Beatles is a classic. MTV encouraged innovation but there were 'videos' long before that. Quo never really entered into the innovative spirit apart from one or two like Accident Prone and In The Army Now but even those just recreated the band on stage - like pretty much all Quo videos.
The instruction was presumably just stick instruments in their hands and start filming.

I remember being nostalgic at quite a young age when they stopped publishing the TV21 comic.
