If anyone has this I notice that it sold for over £2,500.00 on e-bay the other week! :oo: Someone wanted it badly. There was also a copy of Technicolor Dreams which I thought would have been more expensive but I think it eventually went for about £700.00. Get grubbing around in that attic, folks.

I never was into buying singles apart from that very short time after Heavy Traffic with YCR .. A mistake obviously when you look at what people are seemingly prepared to pay for them. I love Fakin' The Blues, but I've got that on the RTYD album. So what was it, that made the single so ultra special ?

It actually had the same front and back sleeve as the Rock 'Til You Drop 12" single except it had the extra tracks Better Times and Heavy Daze rather than the Brits Awards medley and Forty Five Hundred Times. It also had both the single and album versions of Fakin' The Blues. The whole thing was reissued as a fan club only single on two occasions later on.
Not sure what the full story is about the change of single choice but it must have been very last minute.

Sorry, am I missing something here. Was there a single edit of FTB? If there was how was it different to the album version?

Its actually on the CD that the fan club issued. To be honest, I've probably only played it once and a good few years ago at that so I can't remember the difference. 50 seconds shorter but other than that....

I think "Ive" has the 7" of this. I'm sure he stuck a photo of it up here a few weeks back. Unless it was he who sold it.

The single edit is on one of the editions of Pictures: 40 Years of Hits.
As are most of the other single edits/mixes.
They're all remastered too.

Single edits usually have a chorus taken out, sometimes a verse.
I have the fan club CD version of this.
It was going to be released in the UK (as stated above), then they (or the Record Company) changed their minds and issued Rock til you Drop instead. But they kept and used the same sleeves, and that fancy cardboard guitar shaped sleeve. I think my guitar sleeve has a sticker with 'Rock til You Drop' over where is said 'Fakin the Blues'....how cheap can you get!
I'm sure if anyone wants to know any details Jason Hodgson (the collector) will be able to answer them.

The reason why Fakin The Blues is so rare and was withdrawn.... It was scheduled as the 2nd single off the album after Cant Give You More Then the idea that David Walker had about the 4 gigs in one day got off the ground and Britannia Music (Remember them) sponsored the event Rock Til you Drop was given the green light as the tag line for the Guinness Book of records attempt. However Fakin the Blues had already been signed off on and was in production at the record plant where some had already been given to reps to take out to the the record shops.... Hence some were sold to customers before the record Company withdrew it
Many people claim to have it but it tends to be the CD which was also slated for the guitar shaped box had already been produced hence why it was given to Fan club members and the guitar case has the Rock til you drop sticker over Fakin the blues
The 7" no more than 50 were sold as most were all reps with one maybe two to give to the shops of which are left today anybodies guess There was a guy who had 3 and two of which were signed by Rick & Francis and had photos to back it.......a fortune now I would imagine with Rick's Signature
The 12" even Rarer as they came out in very small quantities before they were all withdrawn, I think one was on ebay recently and went for around 2,000 grand....in truth a steal whoever got that
If your wondering how I know all this I had an Uncle who worked for Vertigo and was involved in the set up for the 4 concerts
Hope that helps

Cheers, "Skyfall". All very last minute obviously. Makes you wonder why All Stand Up wasn't ditched in the same way for Heavy Traffic which was getting loads of airplay at the time. No David Walker I guess. And it is a guess
