There's not that many on this album that I'm particularly fond of but I do like this one.
Of the songs recorded by the band that have been penned by John David, this is probably my favourite.
Just a bit different.

Same with me. One of only three songs from the album I like and two of them weren't even written by Quo. Best song for me is GGUAG though, otherwise Rossi/Young didn't deliver on the Party album and it shows. The others weren't able to make up for it IMO.

Hmm... to each their own. I must say it's an album I like very much indeed. There are a couple of sing-along songs I'm not that fond of, but all in all I think it's a good album. This album seems to very much divert opinions. While for some - like me - it was a big disappointment after HT, others like you or Billy obviously loved it. For me it lacks creativity and rockier songs. And as near as all songs sound like Quo by numbers, like I've heard them before, with GGUAG the one exception. I like that pic of Francis and Rick with the city silhouette (although they cheated with Francis' hair ).

This one is the Lonely Night for the new millennium.
Marvellous.

I like both TPAOY and All that counts is love. I also like Velvet Train and GGaG.

TPAOY is different from Heavy Traffic, of course it is. But then HT and ISOTFC are also different from, say, Piledriver or On The Level. I think the album offers a wide range of songs - from the poppier, more 'melodic' ones to those tracks that have got the blues in them and thus sound a tad heavier. Familiar Blues, This Is Me and Belavista Man are outstanding tracks here, in my opinion. "Quo by numbers" - no, I don't think so. No, it's not your 'typical' Quo album, but then... what is a 'typical' Quo album? It's not a rock album, but then none of Quo's 'modern' albums has got what I'd call the boogierock'n'roll'n'blues. Well, I didn't say it was a typical Quo album either - IMO it isn't - and you'd have to define a typical Quo album first and I guess only the critics who believe all albums sound the same could do that. For me there are no outstanding tracks on the album. TPAOY and ATCIL are melodic, pleasant and likeable, but outstanding they are not. GGUAG would come closest to that definition. It's creative, the lyrics aren't too bad, Francis' playing is wonderful .. I just think something is missing. Maybe, if they had spent a bit more time on it, if Rick had rocked up the second verse maybe, it could've been great. Concerning the Rick songs - musically they're not really interesting. I thought right away, I've heard that before with BM. And I'm just not able to like a song with his aging casanova lyrics. They make me cringe and think I wouldn't want the guy if he came wrapped up and with a bow on top. Usually Quo lyrics aren't really important, but some are simply too much for me at least (other examples are Your Smiling Face -we ??? - or Reality Cheque). But that's just what taste is - we can't all like the same. Actually this thread made me think of something else - I'll have to start a new topic ..
