Total mixed bag of an album but just agree with your choice. I remember Francis saying it was specifically written for a project, film I seem to remember which they were asked to write it for. Project never materialised ! I've never liked ' Don't drive my car ' for some reasons. I like Ricks playing I just don't like the melody ! Yeah mixed bag for me that album.

Its one of those songs that "disappeared" for about 15 years because it was not included on the Back 2 Back CD's that came out in the early 90's. It was really good to get it back when the remasters came out. I think it was written for a planned remake of the film The Wild Ones which featured Marlon Brando back in the 50's. Quo do seem to attach themselves to 'failed' projects. Perrier anyone? Great track from a great album.

And as I don't much like the album I still merely have the song on the old LP. - Which is a shame, as it was my favourite from the album as well. Must've had something to do with the fact it was written by Alan. After all, High Flyer was left out as well and there'd have been more obvious tracks to leave out than these two IMO ..

Not one of my favourites - I like the main riff a lot, but not too keen on the vocals. Can't put my finger on why, but they just don't seem to suit the song. Maybe if Al had actually sung it, I don't know, but it seems to be calling out for more of a "rock" vocal, not Rossi's nasally country singing.

Wild Ones for me too. Its up there with many classic tracks from 1970-76 and could hold its own with most.
The album was a mixed bag for me too. About half s great album..... coulda dropped lies, R&R, Name of the game, Run to mummy....... get 4 of the best from NTL and then you'd have a whole great album.......but back in the day had to have a new LP each year!

This one album/year crazy treadmill might have a lot to do with the steep drop in quality from IYCSTH on (maybe with the exception of WYW). It had to be artistically exhausting, especially when you've got other problems on your mind like faltering marriages, drug addiction or even personal tragedy .. Maybe less pressure and more time to recover might have saved the band from splitting as well, as the tension within to constantly deliver the goods, thus being stuck together all the time, wouldn't have grown to a beyond salvation level. We'll never know ..
