I know that this should be in another section but I thought I'd just put this here to get things started. Admin, if/when things are resolved, feel free to delete/move this.
This is the very first song by Quo that I bought. I know for many, who were into the band long before I was, that this was where things began to go wrong but I loved this the night in 1976 when I saw this on Top of the Pops and I still love it to this day.

Same for me. Although I had heard and liked the 73-75 singles (roughly Caroline - Down Down), this was the first one that forced me into a record shop. Like a lot of others I then bought back thorough time to DOTH. This remains high on my Quo likes list, and influences my MB signature! I've heard FR say that they've tried to play the whole thing live but that it just doesn't work. I find that puzzling, cos it's a stand out bit of the medley, and one of the few bits that's always been in. I wonder if it was tried for A1 or A2?

That'll be three of us then! I used to watch TOTPs every week and I must have seen the band before this one but this is the first one that I remember.
Whatever You Want was the first album that I bought, before that, I just had to be happy with the singles.
Surely they must have tried to Aquostic this one for 1 and/or 2? Wonder why it didn't suit?
Such a great part of the medley for me and I wouldn't mind if they scrapped that medley and played all of this and Most of the Time instead.

For me it was Paper Plane at a end of term school disco. It was Christmas 1972 and at the time I was into T Rex, Slade, Sweet & David Bowie. The dj was playing the normal current chart hits, Motown, Reggae, when he started playing some rock, Schools Out by Alice Cooper was a favourite of the time, All Right Now, by Free, David Bowie's Jean Gene, then Paper Plane came blasting out of the speakers.... WOW, that was it I was hooked. My sister bought me Piledriver for my 16th birthday in March and the rest, as they say is history.

The weird thing was, I had seen Quo the previous February at the Harlow playhouse, when my sister took me a month before my 15th birthday, to educated me in rock music and to be honest, I didn't enjoy it as it was so loud. I was informed by my sister that the pictures taken for the Piledriver album, where taken at the Harlow concert.

I'm another one of those who were brought into the fold by Wild Side Of Life. And going by the sheer number of fans it has aquired, that single most definitely has done more good than bad, despite some older fans hating it. I still love it and it will always remain in my top 3 Quo songs. A few years ago they nearly played it in full during the medley, smokie and I very much enjoy the long version from the '82 rehearsals.

This actually sparked the fire after hearing it on TOTP as a 6 year old. However it was hearing this, after my dad bought 12 gold bars vol 1 and 2 on tape that really got me into Quo. I just loved that opening Riff, even though it was a bit wrong for a 6 year old to go around singing this

Going to see bands like Quo, Slade, Queen, Deep Purple, Led Zep must have been a great experience.

I feel the same as Snakelady in that I too feel that growing up we had the best music even if I don't remember too much about the early 70s.
It's the bands that were having hits then that I'd be interested in going to see live now. They are all of the same generation and they can't go on touring forever.
How many, if any of the artists that are in the Top Ten today will still be in demand in 40 years or so?

A fantastic Quo gig that year and lots of positive things happening in my life too .. At the time Deep Purple was long since history though, Slade was nearly gone and Led Zep were perceived a one hit wonder (Stairway To Heaven) :lolflg: . Queen were massive, as were Abba and Quo. The bands I was into more though (beside or before Quo) were Uriah Heep, Barclay James Harvest, Bob Marley, Neil Young, Sailor .. and many more. Genesis were big and so were Smokie, ELO or Santana.

It Was Down Down....i was presenting one of my early hospital radio request shows...back in 1980,Still doing Radio now,as a volunteer !!.Anyhow,we had ran out of requests on that particular show,so with 10 mins to spare i grabbed a selection of "any 45 rpm singles" from the box at hand.Down Down happened to be one of the singles i put on,from that "Grabbed random selection",and it got me going on Quo...

Mine was Rocking all over the World. It used to get played at a youth club I went to in the 80s, along with Queen and Dire Straits. I bought the album (what were the re-releases called that were on cassette that had a yellow cover with the album cover in the middle) and loved it. Eventually someone copied 12 Gold Bars for me and then me and my mate started collecting the older albums until we had them all between us (long before you could just order them on amazon or listen to them on Youtube or I-tunes)!!

Yes, that was it, the Priceless Collection! I kept thinking, 'classic collection', 'timeless collection' but I'm not at home and I couldn't remember it! Thanks. I had them all; Piledriver, Hello, Quo, OTL, BFY and RAOTW. Did they stop there? I don't think they were remastered!

Yeah, I'm disappointed it's not back in the set for the 'final' tour I think it was played at one of the gigs in Germany (not Stuttgart though ..) but dropped again straight away. Same as the change for just one night they recently did in the UK. Whatever the reason for these changes when they don't keep them ? :dunce:

It was actually Down The Dustpipe although In My Chair was the first Quo single I ever owned. My mum bought me that. I was 12 and had just started to take an interest in music. I hadn't formulated any views or tastes as such. But Down The Dustpipe was on the radio constantly and I loved it. Tony Blackburn hated it which made me love it even more I don't think they performed Down The Dustpipe TOTP although I could be wrong. I certainly can't remember it.
