This was the first I watched of Status Quo in 1990, and immediately liked it so much that I had to run to the store next day and buy the single... (of course I had heard of ITAN and so before, but never got it like this then) After that I bought everything they had done and has still been a loyal fan of their releases, cd, vhs, dvd's, books, you name it... In this 25th anniversary documentary from Butlin's Parfitt actaually mentions that they "..could be around for another twentyfive years, I don't now", and how right on the spot wasn't he.. ;-)

I don't like Medleys - any medley, as the wonderful solos are missing from the songs !
If I had to choose one I'd opt for the Mystery Medley though - if there was no chance to hear Wild Side Of Life, Most Of The Time or Mystery song live or alternatively just snippets, I prefer snippets over nothing, maybe.
The AW passed me by when it was released - I just wasn't into Quo at the time ..

Never understood the point of them since they introduced them in the early 80's, and I never will. Just replace with the entire Most of The Time, rather than just a snippet combined with other Cardigan pleasers

The medley they introduced in 1984 blew me away. It was almost the highlight of the set for me. And I had a biking jacket, stretch jeans, Hi-Tec Squash and long flowing locks. Not a cardigan in sight So that one will always be my favourite. It was tremendous hearing Mystery Song, Railroad, Wild Side Of Life and Slow Train live; even if they were shortened versions. Actually, thinking about it it's one of very, very few Quo tracks I don't have on mp3; the Milton Keynes Medley that is. I must sort that out. I wonder if we'll get an mp3 of it when the next batch of vinyl is released.

To each their own opinion of course,, but that's one of the most amazing comment's I have ever read, I'm totally stunned, but it does perhaps explain why you see no wrong in FRQ/Rossi solo albums & CQ recorded output. Rossi loves ya dude

Hearing Mystery Song crank up and hearing songs you'd never ever heard live? I find that equally amazing. And it went down a storm as well. OK, medleys since then I can appreciate might grate on some as the band tried to cram in as many hits as poss but in 1984 I found it a revelation. I suppose these last two posts sum up both of us; one half empty and one half full

I'm with Mortified on this one. I think the EOTR medley is the original and best (not cared for the various incarnations since, especially not the Red Sky one).
My first concert was on the 1+9+8+2 tour so I thought there'd be a few songs that I'd never get to hear live but the medley sorted that out for me.
I can still remember how brilliant and how loud Mystery Song sounded at Milton Keynes. Will never forget that.

Mystery Medley for me. I was only 5 in 1984 but grew up listening to the EOTR video, over and over again. It's only in the last year that I finally got round to listening to Slow Train in full and when I first started listening to it I thought I had the wrong song.
Must confess that during the FF tours in 2013 & 2014 I was disappointed when MOTT went into the solo and not WSOL.
Am I correct in thinking I read somewhere it was Alan's idea to do it? Very pleased he came up with it, I think it's brilliant.

(and WSOL is among my all time favourite Quo songs too)

MOTT is such a beautiful song and then it goes off on a tangent that just feels a bit to 'heavy' for my liking.

Enjoy

Obviously your getting late into Quo, hence merely knowing MOTT live in the form of the medley snippet has led to your err.. unusual perceptance of the song. Shows the medleys have a lot to answer for. 107 For me the solo is the definite goosebumps moment. The way Francis makes the guitar sing is simply breathtakingly beautiful and fits the song absolutely perfect. Actually the song in its entirety is musical perfection ..
