Great album. And like on Aquostic I there are songs better than the "original". On the first album Again and Again, All The Reasons and It's Better Now were far better than the original tracks. On A II IMO ITAN, Bellavista Man and Ressurection easily would have been the better choices on the particular albums. All in all Rick's songs are phantastic and show how good his voice could be/could have been. Roll Over Lay Down is one of the highlights, can't stop listening to this marvellous arrangement. Backwater finally got the vocals it deserves, million times better than the "original". Add Fran's solo, and you have a hit-single. And Resurrection is the icing on the cake, just great and pure Quo. Not too impressed by Fran's new songs. All of the above in your opinion of course, and wow what an opinion that is. ROLD is one of the highlights ?!! ,, Backwater got the vocals it deserves ?!! songs better than the originals ?!!! at first I thought this was a wind up, then I saw who posted and realised it wasn't,, you must be on some good gear to make you think the above dude

Yeah I have, I listened to a full promo album a few days ago, Ive,
This will probably not be of any interest to you but these promo albums/cds are selling for roughly £150 on eBay currently.
I didnt know that, a fool and his money are easily parted I guess

Still getting to grips with this one. The very first time that I listened to this, I did so wearing those phone ear plugs things and there were only a handful of songs that I really liked.
Since then, I've listened to it in the car, or in the house via speaker(s) and for me anyway, that's made a big difference.
With the previous Aquostic album on first hearing, I didn't recognise some of the songs until the vocal started, not so with this one.
Obviously, I'm not saying these versions are better, but I really like Backwater, That's a Fact, Belavista Man, Mess of Blues, Jam Side Down, Resurrection, Lies (and I never really cared for the original) Rockers Rollin'.
I'm probably in a minority of one on here but I've always liked In The Army Now and I think the version on here is great.
Dear John? Love this version. Reminds me of something, The Beatles Eleanor Rigby?
To be honest, I'm liking this album much more than I thought I would.

Of the new songs, I think Is Someone Rocking Your Heart my favourite of the three and it will be interesting to compare it with electric version when FR's next solo album is released next year.
Wasn't sure of Roll Over Lay Down but the more I hear it, the more I like it. Ditto Lover Of The Human Race

As for yer last line, your'e opinion of course,, but to me its been butchered and really is the pits thumbs-down-clipart12

Just listened to it for the 1st time and I like it better than the first one, fatter sound makes it better.
Not sure about Jam Side Down as its a bit to close to the other one, its not bad tho.
Resurrection is good, like Ricks vocals, nice slide from Franny and good harp from Andy.
Lies is good, always one of my faves.
Little Dreamer is a pile of poo on a stick, never liked that track. Perfect Remedy would have been better for me.
Good that it got into the charts to, adds to the chart stats.
All the clips I've heard don't do it justice

My take now is that Roll Over Lay Down, Dear John, Blackwater and In The Army Now all stand out for being done very differently. I am loving the versions of these songs. New songs are growing on me the more I listen. All in all much better than the first one for me

I've been actually wondering if it was Francis. I didn't think it sounded like him but I could easily be wrong of course. Everyone in the band is credited with "guitars" and we also know that Mike Paxman is good with the ole bottleneck. None of the additional musicians are credited with playing the guitar. Whoever it is, it's a very nice solo. I doth my cap to Francis if it is him. I wasn't sure about Rick's vocals at first but that fragility adds to things the same as it did on All The Reasons.I've also been surprised at how good Rockers' Rollin' is. I didn't expect that to work but it does. Really well. Belavista Man remains my favourite track. I much prefer the tempo of this version to the original.

That's what I was thinking too. I hadn't listened to the clips of all the songs but the ones that I had listened to, I didn't think much of. Having heard the songs properly though, my opinion has changed dramatically. Glad I bought it.

This doesn't mean I don't still love the original, it'll always be one of my favourites. But I was wondering what they would do with it acoustically....but they haven't let ME down.

There are some good arrangements and performances on this. I was ready to hate ROLD but reality is that it's a really catchy and clever new interpretation. That's a Fact and Dear John are also excellent. The new material is ok, particularly Someone Rocking Your Heart.

Only a handful of songs stood out for me after first listen and I didn't much like the overall compilation of songs. One of the reasons why it took me weeks till I managed to take the CDs with me in the car and give them a second and third chance. It was the choice of songs that had appealed to me on A1 and the harmonies - they're what made AIBN great - both of that wasn't nearly as good on A2 for me at first. I've come to appreciate most of the songs for the style they're done in now. Some or actually quite a few are better than the originals for me. And all three new songs have grown on me and I like them, something that was missing from A1. The creativity that went into the album is very obvious - the fact they were back to the magic circle - and it worked. I'd not mind an album consisting completely of new acoustic songs. It's a shame it didn't get a fair chance from a marketing POV. It never stood a chance the way it was treated .. Hopefully it'll at least be toured !(and not Hyde Park style, as a hits set)

I find both Aquostics vastly different. Aquostic I is more like one of those re-recorded greatest hits albums whereas Aquostic II resembles a remix album in its radical treatment of the songs. IMO, they went too far in several cases.

Only got the album for Christmas so still spending time becoming familiar, (it normally takes me a fair few listens).
The initial stand out track for me is Dear John. Frame's vocals don't sound so good and yet strangely I find it quite endearing, just reminds me of their age and the fact they're coming towards the end of their career. There's a genuine quality to it that I really love.
Also really like the solo in Lies.
Backwater I find 'interesting', not bad per se, I'd still rather have the original but nice to see they've done something different.
That's a Fact is the one track I'd heard a few times prior to getting the album, wasn't keen at first but it's growing on me now.
ROLD - don't like the electric version and don't like the unplugged version either.

HOW DARE YOU! that's just blasphamy I know, I've been chastised many times on both the official and Ricky's MB for that opinion, (that and my opinion on Rain, which is the same). If it's any consolation - I share your sentiments about Rain. I love the original of ROLD and find the acoustic thought behind its version interesting, but I can't bring myself to liking it. Backwater on the other hand is great acoustically and I prefer it over the original song. The only sing that's outstanding about the original is the solo. Overall I very much prefer A1, but that's down to the choice of songs. There are simply too many songs on A2, which I've never liked in the first place.
