To each their own opinion Inna of course,, but I disagree with all you say above,,, except the very last couple of lines. If I was to put my own review up here it would simply result in me getting told off again , but I can summarize the album in ONE word, and that word is C.R.A.P & the fact that my personal opinions seem to pee off so many truly inspires me,,

I think it's very... inventive. Yeah I have, I listened to a full promo album a few days ago, in fact I listened to it a few times as 1st listens etc can often form thw wrong opinions, my opinion remains the same, its total & utter c.r.a.p. I havent listened to the official release (which will be exactly the same as the promo) as I cancelled my pre order, I refuse to pay full price for truly dire c.r.a.p and will only be purchasing it at a very reduced price to complete and hopefully end my Quo collection.

Always good to hear something new from the band, and also to hear Rick's vocals again was very nice My first favourite was probably the new version of ITAN, but everyone is good, also the new song "One of Everything" grows...

I've merely ordered the deluxe edition, which hasn't arrived as yet, so can't comment .. Going by @inna 's thorough post, I feel a bit more encouraged now than I had been after listening to the snippets.

I find it very hard to criticise them as a rule as they are my heroes, but frankly they should be ashamed of this Album. Aquostic 1 was fine as a one off project and had some interesting spins on loved songs, but this adds zero to any of the tracks, and is frankly lazy. RP's vocals are appalling and I dread to think how bad they sounded originally, as I assume this is the best auto tuning can do
Even if they are hanging up Electrics tour wise, I can see no reason why they cannot produce Electric Albums with new material. At least it would show some sign of effort.
Thank god as I have Spotify I haven't shelved out money for it
December Bournemouth is going to be it for me and then I'll hang up the denim jacket that has been to nearly 100 gigs since 78. Maybe it will come out again, should RP have a miraculous recovery and "due to unprecedented demand blah blah" they do Electrics again, but Acoustic either recorded or Live doesn't cut it for me.

I don't think they should be ashamed of this album. I think it's a tad better than A 1 (which was good) because it's not all strum along and there are only a few bits and pieces of accordion to be found. I also have to disagree with you, problemshalved , regarding Rick's vocals. I was actually surprised how good his voice was. I do agree with you, though, when it comes to a new electric album. I would love to see them do one more rocking album, and I don't understand why this should not be possible. And regarding effort... well, yes, they should definitely put in some effort and change the setlist for November/December. And no, I don't believe in miracles so I can't see Rick ever coming back to play live with Quo again. It would be fantastic if he could at least do some acoustic gigs with the band, but I doubt that very much. I hope I'm wrong, though. BTW, the Deluxe edition arrived this morning unexpectedly. What a nice surprise. :-*

I've listened to the new album twice now and I can tell you I'm already quite fond of it. I put it on, sat back and just listened to the complete album without checking the tracklist first. It was fun identifying each new track that was going to unfold... That's a Fact is the only one from A2 that I'd heard before. Listening to it again I still find the girl singers grating on my nerves. I've always loved the original song, but this new version is growing on me. Roll Over Lay Down - I was actually trembling when I realized ROLD was going to come on. I had been quite afraid they might go and butcher one of my favourite tracks of all time. But they didn't. I should have had more faith. They've re-arranged it in a very convincing way. It's good, very good. Dear John - sounds great. The strings are amazing. Nicely sung by Francis. I'm sure it'll conquer Snakelady and Rosi's hearts right from the start. Army - great stomping rhythm, creates some sort of suspense. I definitely like this one. Hold You Back - I like the lively jig feel there is to it, but then it's quite close to the original, which I also love. One more for the Road - a nice song. I'm sure it'll grow on me. Backwater - great from start to finish. It was quite electrifying to suddenly hear Rick's voice after all the songs sung by Francis. The girl singers spoil it a little bit for me, though. One of everything - interesting lyrics. Nicely sung by Francis. Belavista Man - immediately identifiable. Not too far away from the original. Nice one with the ladies at the end. Lover of the human Race - nice song, nicely sung, nice music. Ice in the Sun - some clever moments here, but not too far away from the original. Mess of the Blues - I can't stand the original song, but this version here puts you in a good mood right away. You've just got to tap your feet. Jam Side Down - nice singing, not too far away from the original, really. Resurrection - sounds quite country to me. Love the guitars. Quite catchy. Well done, Rick. Left me with a smile on my face. Needless to say I prefer the songs that have got more oomph, and there are quite a few of these on the album. It's very different from Aquostic 1. I think it's a very diverse and well-made album. It's good! I haven't heard Lies, Little Dreamer, Living on an Island, Rockers Rollin' and the other new song yet because the Deluxe edition won't arrive here before Tuesday. One thing I can say is that after hearing him singing on this new album I so want that solo album of Rick's. Go and play some rock'n'roll again. But take your time and don't rush things. Interesting post Inna. I can't stand 'That's a fact' so to hear you say you normally like it but the ladies are grating is intriguing. I've heard a few clips here and there but I'm looking forward to getting it and then making up my own mind and then coming back to you on your post

Oooh Spotify... that's the thing that Erazorhead mentioned about 5 years ago & I still don't know what it is! :haha: Besides - your idea of 'better' and mine, may well differ! I seem to recall loving some Quo song that you thought was rubbish

I was a little sceptical about this album....but then I should be more careful of who's views I listen to! So it was a pleasant surprise that I like most of it. My general observations; - I really like the songs that have been done in a new way more than the ones that almost sound the same; i.e. Roll Over Lay Down, Dear John, In the Army.
- I don't think Rick's voice sounds great these days; better on some songs than others. Francis' voice also isn't as good as it used to be, but I think Rick's has deteriorated more (more smoking).
- I don't think the 3 new songs are anything special. I listened the the re-recorded songs a few times whilst skipping the new songs, then went back and listened to the new songs on their own. They seem to lack the ingredients that make a very good Quo songs, a riff or a groove or a jig or a solo, maybe because they were written for the Aquostic album and they were never fully worked up or Quo'd up for a rock album. Or maybe they will never be more than a simple song with a half decent chorus. Ok but disappointing.
- Overall I really like it. There should be some good additions to the live set (unfortunately we won't get Backwater or Rockers Rollin unless Rick returns to the stage, I really like these two).
I don't understand why some people compare it to the FF albums and post stuff saying it's not as good as this. If you have to keep proving that you don't like what Quo are currently doing as much as what they used to do that's fine, each to their own, but I don't understand what purpose this serves. I prefer to accept that this is where they're at, and judge each project/album on it's own merits. I would never try and compare Bula Quo or Aquostic to Hello or On the Level, I don't see the point. If I like That's a Fact great, if I don't I don't. I can't and won't compare it to a Quo rock album. Different music for different days.
Update. I've listened to the album again and I'm changing my opinion about Rick's vocals. It's only really Resurrection that I don't like them, they sound good on Backwater, Belavista and Rockers Rollin, and ok on LOAI.

Great album. And like on Aquostic I there are songs better than the "original". On the first album Again and Again, All The Reasons and It's Better Now were far better than the original tracks. On A II IMO ITAN, Bellavista Man and Ressurection easily would have been the better choices on the particular albums. All in all Rick's songs are phantastic and show how good his voice could be/could have been.
Roll Over Lay Down is one of the highlights, can't stop listening to this marvellous arrangement. Backwater finally got the vocals it deserves, million times better than the "original". Add Fran's solo, and you have a hit-single. And Resurrection is the icing on the cake, just great and pure Quo. Not too impressed by Fran's new songs.

Is it as good as the first Aquostic album? I don't actually know. Do I like it as much? I'm not sure. Do I like it at all? Most certainly. Rick's voice is very fragile in places but it's been on the wane for a few years now. However, it holds up - just. Francis's voice is also going just a little bit, more so on the slower numbers I'd say but these guys are well into their 60's. They're doing alright. One or two tracks seem to have been a bit pointless like Living On An Island and For You. Very similar to the originals. Like the last album though, some have actually improved on the originals. Little Dreamer and A Mess Of Blues I was never keen on but these renditions are great. I agree about the new songs pretty much. Andy's were written for an acoustic album (or a solo one) and seem out of place a bit. The Francis song, Is Someone Rocking Your Heart? sounds like it would make a very good electric song so I'm looking forward to hearing that. I like it. The only reason there is a second Aquostic album is because the first was so massively successful. For those that don't like this stuff, that's the bottom line. Bummer to be proven wrong innit? Very probably twice

This will probably not be of any interest to you but these promo albums/cds are selling for roughly £150 on eBay currently.
