I actually love many different acts, but going by how often I listen to them my three favourites are
Barclay James Harvest Manfred Mann's Earth Band Billy Joel
No hard rock band for me, Quo is about the rockiest band I still like.

This has always changed regularly. But at the moment, I'd say it was probably this lot. Ask me next year, and it will have changed. But these are the ones that have maybe lasted the pace over the years and are in pole position. I probably have a top 10 rather than a quite difficult top 3. ZZ Top Bowie UFO Bubbling under and swapping from week to week (can't help meself ) (Alabama 3 Sheryl Crow Gary Numan)

coldwarkid - I had completely forgotten about Joan Baez. I used to love her, but never got round to replacing my cassettes with CDs, so haven't listened to her in ages. Maybe I should start searching for them now while I remember it .. And during the mid-70s I was a big Smokie fan. mortified - Bowie would definitely make my top 5 too and I know what you're talking about with current favourites, I have them too - artists I listen to repeatedly for a while. But overall the top spots will always remain the same, even when I don't listen to them for weeks or months even, as I generally don't listen to music much any more.

Really good. Not sure they're still on the go now. Huey doing his BBC presenter bit now and then.

Jeff Lynne/ELO - love most of Jeff's stuff. Magnum - liked them since the mid 80's, cracking underrated band. Manic Street Preachers - not sure on no3 to be honest, lots of bands/artists come & go. At the moment it'd be the Manics-love their latest album.

I've seen them (I think) 3 times as a support act but not since the 80's. And the early 80's at that. I own one single

Joan is on her farewell tour at age 77 and is still sounding and looking amazing, one of the very people I would catch a flight to see live. Her new and final album is brilliant too. I really liked Smokie back in the day too, still a great touring and occasional recording band. Chris Norman I've been friends with and worked with for over forty years and he still produces great original albums and is superb live and is also one of the nicest men you could ever meet. dai is right about Magnum too, since they reformed after the Hard Rain albums Tony has been on an incredible run of song writing and producing, never a below par album and Bob never fails to give 100% in the studio and especially on stage.

Rolling Stones Beatles Chuck Berry I do like certain songs that come out these days but there's no one particular artist that brings out a whole album that I can get into. I like some of Ed Sheeran's stuff, Adele, even completely random stuff like Atomic Kittens 'Whole Again' (it's my guilty pleasure) Closest I got to getting into a band like Quo or the Stones was the Stereophonics but then they began playing the songs live at a slower tempo so I stopped going and then lost interest in their new releases. My wife will hear me singing a random song I've heard on the radio and say 'you do realise that's Justin Bieber' or some other artist that I've barely heard of. I used to worry about that kind of thing, can't go liking 'that sort' of artist but the older I get the less I care. If I like the song I like the song, I don't care who's playing it or what style it's in.

Their recording output is just phenomenal though, in quantity and quality.

Saw Magnum a cpl of years ago for the first time and they were fantastic, I only knew a cpl of songs but it didn’t make the slightest difference.

Totally agree with you about the Stereophonics - I loved their first few albums & they were fantastic live but since then - meh 👎

Thanks to your info, I've checked out the fare well tour venues and found out that three more concerts have been added in February 2019 that are going on sale tomorrow. I'll try to get tickets for Frankfurt . Btw. your choice of Peter Maffay is interesting. Wasn't aware Brits even knew him .. . Same as for Quo his biggest hit, Über Sieben Brücken, was a cover .

I've seen Joan a couple of times this tour and recently in Cologne but I'll certainly go to Frankfurt too. I doubt Brits do but I'm not a Brit I'm an American who's lived in Germany 40 years, Peter is one my oldest friends and someone I've worked with for decades.

Rammstein Cheap Trick Lacuna Coil Went through my Rammstein phase about 15 years ago. Mutter and Reise Reise were brilliant. But I didn't like Rosenrot as much so I sort of gradually lost interest. I've recently been listening to Cheap Trick though and love Bang, Zoom, Crazy....Hello! and We're Alright. Two cracking albums. I even dabbled with that Christmas one! Lacuna Coil I'm not mad on.

I tried to get tickets but seems all three German gigs are sold out already. Straßburg tickets are still available, but no good for me as that gig is on the 15th and we only return from Cyprus on the 16th, what a shame .. You do have quite a few musician friends .. guess you're one yourself ?

Have to say I gave the CT Christmas album a wide berth. Apart from that pretty much all their albums (a bit like with Quo really) always have something to make them worth listening to. Did you try listening to Emigrate (Rammstein guitarist Richard's side project)? They did a song for one of the Resident Evil movies. Sings in English and their second album has guests spots by various people including Lemmy.

Yes I've been a musician/songwriter/record producer since the 70s, Peter and I shared a studio for a while many years ago near Munich but I've written with him and produced for him for years and played in his touring band off and on too, I just did the MTV Unplugged tour with him this year.

It was recommended by my stepdaughter and I think its excellent. I didn't know there was another album. I'll seek it out. It has that industrial/rock/dance sound that I really like.
