So who else is going along to one of the newly announced gigs this year?
I've got tickets for the Manchester gig in June. Ridiculously expensive, circa £140 each with fees etc but having seen them twice before I know it'll be worth every penny. Even though it's not far from home we're stopping over as we're meeting up with old friends, I'm sure the beers will be flowing. Just hoping the sun will be shining and no doubt it'll be an awesome evening.

Was toying with the idea of going to Murrayfield but haven't bought tickets as of yet but I might.
Saw The Stones on the 2003 tour and greatly enjoyed it. I'm not a massive fan but this might be the last time to see them live, who knows?

I see what you mean by "cheap". Nearly £200 to stand on the pitch

I got notice of the pre-sale at the end of last week and texts from mates I'd seen them with in 1999, 2003 and 2006. We were keen till we saw the prices. We expected them to be high but he's decided not to bother - as have a couple of others - so that's that really. The pitch was sold out at the pre-sale before I even went on. They're the cheapest for Murrayfield at £89.95. Murrayfield is practically local so it would be great. Mrs Mortified is quite keen because she's never seen them (and fed up with me raving about them ) but we have a few things coming up to pay for so the timing isn't good. We shall see. They've just added a second London Stadium date by the way. Amazing they way they can still pack them in to venues that size!

Agree with all of that. They are the opposite of Quo who never really stopped touring the UK and parts of Europe. And these 'extra' dates are a bit of a con. You can't just book a venue like that off the cuff. The date, funds, insurance and what not have to be clear. So the promoter is well aware. Its used to give that 'due to phenomenal demand' bollox that none of us ever fall for Looking out the window, June seems a feckin' long way off!

.. and people complain about Quo tickets being too expensive .. I'd never go see the Stones for that reason (plus a few others ..e.g. I don't do stadium gigs). Great marketing on their part though - making so much money doing so little.

It is a lot of money but as long as folk will pay it then they'll still charge it I guess. Much as I love Quo, there is something magical about the Stones that no other band has ever done for me. They are bona fide legends, they weren't just there when it happened, they made it happen. Such a diverse pool of music, from the beauty of Wild Horses, mystical charm of Gimme Shelter, brilliant vibe of Tumbling Dice, straight up in your face Brown Sugar, to the mesmerising Sympathy for the Devil, which for my money has the greatest guitar solo ever written in it. (I read a great piece of journalism once that said the guitar solo in Sympathy is very easy to play, take the middle finger of your left hand and stick it straight up in the air - job done) I suspect quite a few additional dates will get added but I didn't want to risk that not happening and missing out. You realise when things like Rick passing happen that you have to take these opportunities when you can as they won't be around forever.

I actually quite like the Stones, at least for half an hour. After a while Mick's voice tends to get on my nerves, so I can merely enjoy them in small doses. They'd need 1-2 more singers .. I tend to consider them a 60s band mainly though - I mean, apart from Miss You they were a spent force by the end of the 70s the latest. The only new song I noticed afterwards was that solo peacock contest between Mick and DB Dancing In The Street. Judging from videos (I know ..) I don't consider them nearly as good a live band as Quo either, at least in recent decades.

The only new song I noticed afterwards was that solo peacock contest between Mick and DB Dancing In The Street. I know what you mean. They haven't had a hit single since Start Me Up in 1981. Not a top ten anyway. And their artistic peak was probably about '68 to '71. When Mick Taylor was in the band. Their albums were a bit hit and miss from about 1976 - mostly miss. But from Bridges To Babylon (around 1997 I think) they've been brilliant. That one is actually a favourite of mine. Their last album Blue & Lonesome was no.1 here. Most of their albums are. Many would say that almost parallels Quo in terms of recordings. Peak in the 70's, release so-so new material for 15 years but remain successful through compilations. Then bring out brilliant albums again from the late 90's onwards. I tried for tickets yesterday but all I could get were seats and two together was going to cost me £249.00 EACH! Not happening.

It's not a question whether you can afford it, it's a question of VFM. This is definitely not.

I looked at Cardiff as well. They have tickets left for the pitch at £89.95. I'd pay that. But.... and there's always a but I checked the hotel we usually stay in when we used to go see Quo and my stepdaughter at uni and instead of the normal £99 per night they've raised it ever so slightly to £400!!! :oo: Bandits! Do you think they know the Stones are in town? I'm afraid the Stones seem to be a gravy train this year for everyone. See what I did there? Shan't bother.

I've done a few comparison websites for the weekend of the Stones gig in Cardiff and it's just mad. Even the Travel Lodge is over £200 a night!! They're also insisting on a 2-night stay. Most of them are. Nah, they can shove their 'supply and demand' and stick it where the sun don't shine. Inverness

Bagged a golden circle ticket in the presale for Manchester. £250!!
I saw them in 2006 in Sheffield and they were absolutely brilliant.
I reckon there's a good chance this will be my last chance to see them.

But the Murrayfield pitch tickets - and others - were sold out before I even had a chance. Even in the pre-sale! And the 'no filter pit' tickets are out of my budget. Much as I'd like to be silly about it I think this Stones tour has sold tickets quicker than the previous UK tours in 1999, 2003 and 2006. I never had any problems getting tickets for those. Enjoy!

More of the population centred in London/SE and they think they can charge what they like? Money makes the world go round and here was me thinking that it was love.
